Baptism at Snowdon Baptist Church
Baptism is an important step in a believer’s relationship with God. It is a symbol of identification with the death and resurrection of Jesus and a way of publicly proclaiming that I have repented of my sin and am trusting completely in Christ as my Savior.
“For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to a new life.” Colossians 2:12
It’s important to know that baptism itself is not the source of new life, rather it is simply the way that Jesus wants believers to confess their new life in Him to their world. Baptism gives everyone who believes in Jesus the opportunity to stand before their family, friends, and church as faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
Baptism does not make you a believer; it shows that you already are one! Baptism does not “save” you; only your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring – it’s the outward symbol of the commitment you made in your heart. Therefore, we do not baptize children until they are old enough to understand and believe. For infants and children, we offer Child Dedication, in which we celebrate and commit our children to be loved and taught the way of Jesus. When they come of age, they can then decide to follow Christ, be baptised, and live as Christ leads. If you are interested in child dedication, please contact us.
If you are a follower of Jesus Christ having submitted and surrendered your life to him, then baptism is the next step in your new life with God.
We offer a four-week Baptism class that will guide and prepare you to be baptised. Please connect with us for more information and/or to join the next class.
May your life always reflect and honour our Saviour Jesus Christ
